Jeremy Liebman lasted 11 March picks before Connecticut ended his run on Day 9. By then he owned a share of 1st and 248.5 points, the defining result of his season.
The win had serious company. Texas Tech helped his college football portfolio reach 14th, champion Spain carried the World Cup sheet to 13th, and the Ducks pushed his NHL ticket to 18th. Three different formats produced three more finishes near the front.
Liebman's misses spoke just as loudly: 219th in baseball and 190th in golf, where four majors totaled 305.1. Even so, his 1574.5 points were enough for 35th and a 5-place rise.
The middle rarely interested him. Liebman leaves with a March title and enough other premium work to make the unevenness feel like part of the story, not an excuse for it.
