Golf gave Erik Monger's season a late jolt. His four-major score reached 525.1, boosted by 145.7 at The Open, and placed 15th for 237. Then the World Cup brought the opposite result: 230th and 11.5.
He had built enough useful work to absorb some of that swing. The Seahawks title ticket supplied 92 in the NFL Playoffs and helped the full entry reach 56th; in the College Football Playoff, Monger managed 53rd even after Oregon missed as his champion.
The upside was real, but it arrived too selectively. At season's end, 1251.5 put Monger 133rd, 11 places lower. Golf kept one final no-show from swallowing the year.
