A perfect futures card only happens when nothing goes wrong, and for one January nothing did. Brendan Higgins swept his NFL Playoffs futures, rode Seattle to the title, banked 134 and took 3rd out of 251.
He kept finding the right teams. Champion Spain led the World Cup portfolio to 29th, Montreal returned 120 inside a 264.58 hockey haul for 30th, and the Dodgers supplied 69 on an MLB card that placed 32nd.
March ended on Day 1b with Nebraska at 159th, and the NBA totals sputtered to 169th. A 29th-place World Cup still outweighed 102nd in golf, moving Higgins 8 spots to 14th with 1696. The season was top-heavy in the best way.
